Living legend and Tennessee native Doyle Lawson, began playing mandolin at the age of 11 and has been burning up stages across the world for decades! By the age of 18, Lawson was touring with Jimmy Martin and J.D. Crowe, playing mandolin, banjo or guitar, and singing tenor harmony. From 1971 until 1979 he was a member of legendary group The Country Gentlemen.
Lawson organized his own band, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver in April, 1979. The group immediately rose to the top of the bluegrass music world, elevating standards of the genre and exhibiting high levels of professionalism both vocally and instrumentally on dozens of albums.
In 2012, Doyle Lawson was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, a status so few artists have acheived. With over 35 albums to their credit, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver have multiple Grammy, Dove, ICM, IBMA and SPBGMA Award nominations, and are seven-time winners of IBMA’s Vocal Group of the Year!

Celebrating over 30 years in the music business, the Lonesome River Band has consistently been referred to as one of the best Bluegrass bands on the planet! Led by banjo virtuoso Sammy Shelor, the band consists of Brandon Rickman (lead vocals and rhythm guitar); Mike Hartgrove (fiddle); Barry Reed (bass); and newest member, Randy Jones (mandolin and vocals) all performing the legendary sound that fans love. The group has won nearly every major award in the Bluegrass music industry and is still mesmerizing crowds all over the country with their amazing talents.
Recognitions include the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) honoring the group with numerous awards for Album of the Year and topping it off with an amazing five-time award wins for Shelor as IBMA Banjo Performer of the Year. The band won the 2012 IBMA Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year for their song, “Angeline The Baker” from their Chronology, Volume One album. They have also received recognition by SPBGMA for numerous Bluegrass Band of Year wins, Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year and Shelor as Banjo Player of the Year.
Sammy Shelor was the recipient of the 2nd Annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. Lonesome River Band with special guest Steve Martin made an appearance and performed on the Late Show With David Letterman on November 11, 2011. During that year, members of LRB received five IBMA nominations, including Album of the Year for their participation on The All-Star Jam: Live At Graves Mountain album on Rural Rhythm Records.
The Deer Run Drifters (DRD) are a stringed quintet from right here in Floyd, Virginia! The group, all from former bands of different genres, came together in mid 2012 to play a more Folk/Bluegrass/Americana sound.
Made up of Chris Link, Sean Edgell, Joe Link, Shane Edgell and Will Norton; these talented musicians bridge the gap between several genres of roots music and are sure to leave you wanting more! The band is currently working on their first album which is slated to be released in 2013. With the influence of the mountains and the moonshine, this band is not one to miss!
